We are sending a submission to Biosecurity Australia on 4 July calling for additional measures to be included in the policy on biosecurity for the importation of apples from NZ.
These measures are critical in order to provide greater protection of the Australian apple and pear industry against fire blight, European canker, leaf curling midge and other pests. BUT we need your help.
We need the Hon. Joe Ludwig, Minister for Agriculture to hear the community support for these measures.
We need our growers and members of the community to tell the Minister and local members of parliament (state and federal) how important this is.
The more voices that are heard, the more impact we will have and therefore chance of success.
The final policy will be handed down by Biosecurity Australia on 17 August, so we don't have much time.
