The IAC reports to HAL on levy issues on behalf of the industry and in particular on the design and development of marketing and research and development programs, and the investment of levy funds.
The apple and pear IAC has an independent chairman, Mr Bob Granger, while the remaining members of the IAC are the board members of Apple and Pear Australia Ltd. Having APAL board members as directors of the IAC ensures a high level of synergy between the business undertaken by APAL and Horticulture Australia Limited.
Since 2001, he has provided services to primary industries in several and varied capacities.
He is currently Chairman of three Industry Advisory Committees, Apple and Pear, Mushroom and Avocado, and the chairman of three other horticultural groups; Sugar Research & Development Corporation, Wholesale Ornamental Nurseries Pty Ltd and Banana Industry Protection Board - Queensland.
Bob has chaired or developed a number of significant reform and strategic plans for a range of horticultural industries and has prepared many major submissions on behalf of Horticulture Australia Council Limited.
Bob commenced his role as Chairman of the Apple and Pear Industry Advisory Committee in October 2005.
