Import Risk Analysis (IRA) for apples from New Zealand

The government has opened the door for apples to be imported from New Zealand, however, growers are concerned that the proposed protocols for inspecting New Zealand orchards and fruit are still not adequate to prevent the devastating bacterial disease fire blight coming into Australia.

APAL expressed its concerns in a media release on 30 November 2006 Release and submitted an appeal on 12 January 2007.
